ECJ Artist Incubator

Project details

A facility dedicated to nurturing new and emerging artist through providing affordable housing with dedicated work space. Further offering other services such as business management, marketing skills, and financing to prepare the artists for an independent career.

More than half the artist population live below the national poverty line. The limited income and lack of resources not only makes it difficult to turn a profit, but to even maintain a living. This facility will not only act as a means of living; but also as an artistic hub for all of Newark.

Building these connections between the artists and community will allow them to branch out and breach into an independent career. Though creating strong separation between the private and public buildings will provide artistic residents a sanctioned work space they can feel confident within. It is imperative to find a balance between work, life, and learning.
